here i am off on another tangent. off on, trying to bring things together. being practical and tactical at the same time.

the latest idea for Also Space is to organise a series of preliminary workshops called “How to Make Mo-ni Mo-ni Mo-ni”. these can take place a few times during the run of the exhibition, and anyone can participate, including, hopefully, a few children from Caochangdi.

a large pile of dirt (like those found at many of the construction sites nearby) will be the home base, carted somewhere inside the gallery. wherever they prefer is fine, but should be somewhere on one of our specified sites within C-space.

we will make dorodango (shiny mud balls), workshops led by me (former student of Master Kayo sensei of Kyoto), by no means guarantee of success or shiny-ness, but perhaps a long meditation on the mo-ni making process. participants are of course allowed to do as they please with their completed dango, but each one that i complete will be marked as a unit of value, to be re-inserted in its new form back into the public “market” of Caochangdi (both in its face as village and as arts district).
